Six Apps to Help you Relax

Life can be stressful. From demanding jobs to home life responsibilities, we can feel like we are being pulled into a multitude of directions. Therefore, it’s important to find time in your day to relax and focus your energy; even it’s only for ten minutes. When we relax, we give our mind and body a chance to shift energy and perspective, which is often what we need in order to face our day. The great news is that technology has made it easy to carve out time for self-care. Here are just a few of my favourite apps that encourage rejuvenation, relaxation and rest.

Relax Melodies: Oriental Meditation

Close your eyes and take in the peaceful melodies from the Chinese flute, harp and more. This app also allows you to mix and match the tunes as well as the volume of each sound. Complete with an alarm clock and timer, you can set your sounds and drift off peacefully into a deep slumber or meaningful meditation.

Long Deep Breathing

Deep breathing works wonders. Using this app, especially before bed or first thing in the morning, will help you calm your mind and get your mind ready for sleep or a busy day ahead. Guiding you in exercises that help relieve stress, this app is great for practicing intentional breathing.

Stop, Breathe, and Think

A daily mindfulness app, Stop, Breathe, and Think, encourages you to input how you are feeling. When you select your mood, the app will suggest meditations, yoga, or other activities that can help depending on your emotional state. You are also able to track your moods so that you can begin to understand and focus on your feelings and how you can continue feeling a certain way, or improve your mood.

Colorfy

Adult colouring books have become extremely popular. They can be used to help with anxiety and this app helps to bring colouring on the go. With a plethora of images and mandalas to choose from, you can spend hours calming your emotions with this app. It also serves as a distraction while helping you work through your emotions.

Calm

Featuring sleep, meditation and relaxation tools, Calm keeps mindfulness at your fingertips. With guided meditations, the app features nature sounds and relaxing stories, which are designed to help lull you to sleep and relaxation.

Relax & Rest Guided Meditations

Walking you through meditations that focus on breath, body and deep relaxation, Relax & Rest Guided Mediations will help you relieve stress. Depending on your preference, you can pick from a five, thirteen or twenty-four minute session. The app will walk you through the entire mediation, so it is ideal for both beginners and advanced users.

Do you use any apps to help you relax? Did your favourite make the list? I’d love to learn about new ones, so let me know in the comments!
