Let me be blunt: Starting with SMART goals is like trying to build a house without a blueprint, like going on a journey without a map. Sure, you’ll end up with something—but it probably won’t be what you wanted. That’s plain dumb.

Here’s the truth no one tells you: Goals aren’t the starting line. Experiences are.

Life isn’t a to-do list

Think about it. Chasing outcomes—like a dream car, a corner office, or a six-figure salary—sounds exciting, but it’s a trap. Why? Because happiness is not found in what you achieve; it’s found in how you live while attaining it. 

Life isn’t a to-do list of accomplishments. It’s a masterpiece made of vibrant, unforgettable moments. So, before you scribble down another “goal,” ask yourself:

•      Examine your purpose in life and how this activity will get you closer to achieving it.

•      What kind of life do I want to wake up to daily?

•      Set your intention – what emotions do I want to feel?

•      List what memories you want to create.

•      Will these choices make you happier?

Once you know that, the rest is easy. You reverse-engineer those dreams into actionable, meaningful SMART goals

Create a life that excites you

Instead of “Earn $100,000,” ask yourself: “What kind of freedom, adventure, or impact does $100,000 unlock?”

Now, you’re not chasing money; you are creating a life that excites you.

Here’s the real secret: Don’t just set goals. Design a life. Focus on the journey, not just the destination. 2025 isn’t waiting for you to make a list. It’s waiting for you to live a life worth writing about.
