Holiday Self Care Tips
With the holiday season in full swing, it’s important to remember to make yourself a priority. Self care is extremely important, especially as the hustle and bustle builds up. While it can be challenging to make time for yourself, make sure to carve out some time occasionally to regroup and recharge. That way, you will be in tip top shape when Christmas Day finally arrives. Here are a few things you can do to ensure self care doesn’t take a backseat.
Read a great book
Hit up the nearest library (online or in real life!) and pick yourself out a page turner. Do you love fantasy? Thriller? Comedy? Whatever it is that fills your cup in the book department, find a novel you love, find a cozy spot, and escape in an imaginary world for a while. Whether it’s ten minutes, or an hour, carving out some time to read will help you relax and destress.
Treat yourself
During the season of giving, our own self care gets put on the back burner. So, take an afternoon to treat yourself to something that feeds your soul. Perhaps it’s lunch with a good friend, a trip to the spa, or taking a nap. Whatever it is that brings you joy, make sure to find time to care for yourself.
Get crafty
Even if you aren’t the crafty type, tapping into your creative side can have amazing benefits to your well being. And, you can even use your crafting skills to treat those in your life. Some options include baking a new recipe, building a gingerbread house, and perusing Pinterest to find a holiday craft. Remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect! The whole point is to relax and have a good time while doing something you maybe wouldn’t do otherwise.
Have a movie night
Who doesn’t love a great movie? Pop some popcorn and cuddle up on the coach and decompress for a few hours. The whole point to movie night is to quit multi-tasking and focus only on the film of choice. Allow yourself to escape with the characters and truly enjoy the story. Whether you need a belly laugh, or a cathartic cry, there are an incredible amount of holiday movies for you to be entertained by.
Look back on 2019
With the business of the year, and especially the holiday season, we can forget about the many amazing things in our life we have to be grateful for. Therefore, take some time to write down all that you have achieved and are thankful for this past year. Taking some time to practice gratitude will help you realize how much you have accomplished over the year, which can help set your intentions for the year to come.
How do you practice self care during the holiday season? What suggestions would you add to the list? Whatever you do during December, I hope that you take some time for yourself because you deserve it!
