Dr. Allen Lycka

Friends, today we have an extraordinary guest, a man I love and admire. Now, you might not know his name to hear it. It’s Dr. Michael Beckwith, founder and CEO of the AGAPE International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles. He’s written award-winning books, and he’s been on every television show you can imagine, from the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Larry King, the Oprah Show, ABC Fox, and his own PBS Special “The Answer Is You” Welcome Dr. Beckwith.¬†

Dr. Michael Beckwith

Thank you so much for the invitation to be with you today so we may share ourselves with all those tuning in.

Dr. Allen Lycka

Thank you. Can you tell the world a little bit about you and what your church is about?

Dr. Michael Beckwith

As you indicated, I’m the founder of the Agape International Spiritual Center, which is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. We recently celebrated our 37th anniversary as a spiritual community. It has now touched millions of people around the globe, and it continues to evolve and grow. We have over 30 ministries working with people we meet on Sundays. It began over 40 years ago; when I was a USC student, I began having inner spiritual experiences. Where at that particular time, I didn’t know what they were; I thought I was in psychobiology. I was a psychobiology major.

So, I attributed what I was going through to some psychological pathology. But it turned out to be a death. Then, there was a grand opening in which I could see that we were surrounded by a presence of love, beauty, and intelligence beyond anything I could describe. That set me on the path to discover what had happened to me. That put me on the path of deep meditation, introspection, and service that ultimately led a number of years after that to found a spiritual community, which I had tremendous resistance to doing. I wasn’t trying to be a public person. But the call was too great. The call was more powerful than my resistance. And ultimately, I became very public with what I knew. The books I read after that validated my inner experience. And that’s the short version of a very long story.

Dr. Allen Lycka

That is a beautiful, short version. But it certainly captivates the audience and also captivates me with some simple questions. You’ve spoken about how all life is energy and how we can use that energy that comes inside us to help us with everything in life. Can you tell us more about that?¬†

Dr. Michael Beckwith

Absolutely, I would like to let you know that if you’re coming from a spiritual point of view, we would say the presence of God, or love of beauty, is spirit. If we’re coming more from a quantum reality, it’s all energy that’s conscious of itself. Every one of us is energetic; most of what we are is invisible. It’s what we can see, even if you go to the depth of what we can see, at the bottom, it’s all energy. And so, our frequency is our currency by which we bring things into manifestation.

Everything is energy, which is what Einstein showed with this energy, E equals MC squared, proving that energy and matter were the same thing, vibrating at different rates of speed. As we lift our vibrational signature, we lift our energy with gratitude, thanksgiving, appreciation, and forgiveness, being able to feel connected to joy for no reason whatsoever. What happens is universal law matches, and that vibration matches that frequency. We begin to experience life at a higher level, then manifest at a higher level, rather than manifesting our worst-case scenarios. Because we’re vibrating with fear, anxiousness, and anxiety, we’re now vibrating with gratitude, thanksgiving, appreciation, love, and generosity; now we begin to manifest our picture of a life that is more and more fitting with energetic beings, the energy that’s conscious of itself, as every one of us. And this is why we have spiritual practice, not to be religious but free.

Dr. Allen Lycka

You also said that the vast majority of people have intention deficit disorder. What do you mean by that?

Dr. Michael Beckwith

IDD is intention deficit disorder. Many people wake up every single day not living an intentional life. They’re living a reactionary life. They are reacting to conditions, circumstances, situations, people, places, and things; there are thoughts about what others think about them. So they’re in this milieu of thought forms by which they’re reacting to circumstances; they’re conditioned-based people. First, it is important to know when you establish an intention, it means another way of looking at it. You know, a ship in a boat has a rudder. And that rudder determines the direction that the ship is going in. Your intention is like a vibrational rudder that determines the direction of your life. So, if you wake up and you intend to be happy, you intend to be healthy, you intend to be prosperous, and that becomes a part of your vibrational signature, then your life starts to head in that direction.

Your intuition begins to pick up wisdom and guidance, you start to feel differently, and then your life. Now it is more intentional, with your attention being placed on your intention, you know, when you’re off and when you’re on. And when you’re reacting to circumstances, you will say to yourself, Oh, I’m not with my intention right now. Now, this is the beautiful thing about it. When you begin when an individual starts to live an intentional life, they don’t have to know how certain things will manifest. It’s not our job to know the how. You know there are universal laws of mind and inaction, and respond to all of that response to our intention. We have to understand what we’re intending. If we know what the show will follow, it compels us to think differently, speak differently, and act differently to come into alignment with our intention. And then serendipity coincidences, spontaneous goodness, synchronicity, things to begin to occur in our life, that when we look back on it, we didn’t make it happen. We made it welcome by intending to live a certain way.¬†

Dr. Allen Lycka

So, you are a big believer in manifestation? Can you tell our listeners what that means? And how can they turn on the power of manifestation in their lives?

Dr. Michael Beckwith

I’m not only a big believer in manifestation, as you’ve indicated, but I am aware that each of us is as energetic as spiritual beings with a human incarnation. We have a mandate to manifest. We leave a vibrational footprint of love and beauty through manifestation. It is also creativity, intelligence, compassion, and generosity according to our uniqueness. We’re manifesting all the time. If you have an incoherent, anxious, worried thought form that is running your life, you’re immediately manifesting toxic chemicals, and you’re creating a condition or perhaps a disease or some kind of disharmony in the body or the mind. So, we’re always manifesting. The thing is, are we consciously manifesting the life we want to live? Are we consciously bringing that which is invisible, into the realm of the visible.

Therefore, we begin these three phases of manifestation. Of course, we can talk about this a long time, but I’ll just break it down very simply. If you really want to manifest something great in your life, something beautiful, wonderful, harmonious, you begin to mentally see it. That’s visualization, you begin to think about it. So, you’re using your mind to change your brain. So, you can begin to see, instead of worst-case scenarios in your life, you begin to see best case scenarios. And then part two, which is really the important part, is you begin to feel that it’s already happening. So, if you begin to see yourself as prosperous or healthy, what do you look like if you’re healthy? What do you look like if you’re happy? What do you look like if all of your needs are met? And then what does that feel like? You begin to feel it, but you’re not feeling it to hope that it happens in the future, you begin to feel that it’s happening, right this moment, you see, and so you can take a few moments, you can begin to remember a moment in your life, where all of your needs were met. Or when you felt loved and supported. You felt very healthy. Now, if it’s difficult to remember such a moment, you can imagine what that would feel like. What would it feel like if I had all my needs met right now? What would it feel like if I was really healthy? What would it feel like if I was loved and supported? So, whether it’s a memory, or whether it’s an imagination it doesn’t matter, the brain doesn’t know the difference. But it’s happening now. And then, the third thing that happens is, as you begin to feel that it changes your behavior, your actions change. So, there’s thought, feeling, and action, you begin to act like a prosperous person, you begin to act like a healthy person, you begin to your behavior changes, you begin to act as if you’re loved and supported.

You will notice minuscule things that you’ll do that represent that change in your brain that represents the change in your frequency. And then those little, tiny actions start to become momentum. And the momentum begins to transcend lethargy, begins to transcend stagnation, you start to change. And then manifestation is quickened because you have become a different, greater version of yourself. We’re all called to be a part of this. True manifestation is not just getting what you want in the world, you can actually use the law to see something and to bring it into manifestation. True manifestation is when you actually become a greater version of yourself, not what you should be. But what you’re meant to be. Everyone has a meant-to-be. An acorn has a has a meant to be called an oak tree.

An avocado seed is meant to be called an avocado tree. We have a meant to be. It’s not a parental fantasy. It’s not a societal fantasy. It’s not a religious fantasy. It doesn’t come from the social milieu of the world. There’s something within us loaded encoded from the eternal, energetic presence that’s conscious of itself and wants to know itself as our life. We all have a great destiny. But are we willing to embrace it? Change so that it can manifest, you see?

Dr. Allen Lycka

Dr. Beckwith, when you were on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, you gave a beautiful example of how people can pause their life, take their breath, and use that to empower them. Can you share that with our audience here?

Dr. Michael Beckwith

Well, I suggest first of all, one thing I suggest I’m going to get to that is there are two great places by which we can actually change our subconscious mind where the mind is programmed. Obviously, when you wake up in the morning and you’re not quite awake, that’s when you intend to have a beautiful day, even write something down and read it when you wake up. And when you’re about to go to sleep at night when you’re getting ready and starting to get sleepy. Again, you intend that even as you sleep, you’re growing and unfolding to your greater yet to be any, you might even want to read something before you go to bed, it’s very affirmative, throughout the course of the day we stop. Take an in breath. Now, here’s a good one here, feel that your need is met, which is start with our needs being met, we feel that our need is met, we take a breath, sustain it at the apex. Some people call that holding the breath, I call it sustaining it, we don’t hold it, we just sustain the breath. The nervous system is recalibrating itself around that feeling. Prior to this, the nervous system may have been calibrating itself around nervousness or anxiety or some kind of future negativity, sustain the breath then we release. We sit with the awareness; all of our needs are met. Were loved and supported. Totally healthy.

Dr. Allen Lycka

You know, that is such a simple thing to do. So I do think so many people just ignore that and go into their fear situation or go into their anxiety situations and use that to overpower themselves.

Dr. Michael Beckwith

When they’re trying to be willful and make something happen in their life from the survival domain. You know, people have had woundedness, trauma, and unhealed areas in their life. And so they’re driven by fear. And they really, really, really, really want to survive. They think their best survival way is by manipulating the external world, manipulating other people, or manipulating conditions. So, they’re in this fight or flight constant state of anxiety. Well, willfulness creates a vibrational wall from experiencing the good that’s right here for you. Willingness creates a way out of no way. So if we can just stop on a regular basis, I call it the true pause that refreshes not drinking some carbonated soda. But the pause that refreshes. So, we come back to the beginning. This is the new beginning for my day, my life.

Dr. Allen Lycka

That’s so beautiful. Dr. Beckwith this show is called the How To Live A Fantastic Life Show. You epitomize the fantastic life. You show other people how to do that. How do you have a fantastic life?

Dr. Michael Beckwith

Everything that I’ve just said, I practice I think the key word is practice. People often say, you know I’ve listened to you speak I’ve taken your classes I’ve come to agape I watch your, your podcast, you know, take back your mind. What are the advanced teachings, and I always say this, the beginning teachers, teachings, or theory, the advanced teaching is practice. Once you establish some level of practice, even if you think it’s minuscule, it’s gonna change your life. So, I make sure that I stay with my practice. When I wake up in the morning, I intend that this is going to be a great life. I’m going to be great people. I’m going to be with great people, things are gonna go my way. I intend. I stand up and I do a couple of breaths. The first breath is I’m grateful for my life. I go into gratitude. The second breath is I ask what is my assignment for today. Let me be present from wherever my assignment is. Thirdly, I take another breath, and I’ll say I am open to the strength and the wisdom to embrace every assignment that comes my way. Now, some of the assignments are on my calendar. I have a beautiful podcast today with a beautiful friend. You know there are certain assignments, but there are other assignments that come into my atmosphere that I don’t know they’re going to come. And I want to be present for what comes into my life with the strength to handle it. So, then what I do, I go to the kitchen, and I make a nice warm drink, water, minerals, particularly lemon, I drink the warm water with some systemic enzymes. I then make a specialty.

Then I go to the gym, I work out the physical body. After I work out the physical body, I come home, and I meditate. After I meditate, I make a beautiful smoothie. I have my own product, some superfood greens that I’ve created, because people kept asking me what do you drink. And then you know, a shower, blah, blah, blah, steam, and everything and all of that. And now I put on my clothes. Now I’m ready for my day. So, I have intended, I breathed, I have hydrated, I have meditated, I put nutrition into my body. Now, and of course, it’s not just food for thought, the meditation gives me spiritual thought for food. So, now I’m able to go into my day and I’m not reacting to what’s going on going on through the day, I’m walking into my day, carrying a vibration. I teach people when you go into a meeting, or walk into a door, a room with people or wherever you go. Don’t wonder, you know what, who am I going to meet there? And how the vibe how’s the vibration going to be? No, no, no, you bring the vibration that you want in the room, you bring the vibration, you meet yourself, you went to a peaceful meeting, you want a loving atmosphere.

You receive that into yourself, and you walk in with it. So then I walk into the world. In my own world, for lack of a better word of love and beauty and intelligence. And I carry that world with me everywhere that I go. So, I’m in this world, but I’m of a higher frequency. That’s so, the short answer to your question is, I have a spiritual practice. Someone says to me one time at a meditation retreat that I do. Do you meditate every day? I said, Yeah, I meditate every day. They said you must be some kind of Superman to meditate every day. I said no, no. If I was Superman, I wouldn’t need to meditate every day. I meditate every day. So that I have a level of coherence. Because there’s so many distractions in the world.

Dr. Allen Lycka

I’ve always found that life is like being in a football field. And your sole objective is to get from one end of the football field to the other. Unfortunately, there’s a million distractions along the way that are preventing you from getting there. And I think that’s true of most people’s lives. They have a huge problem with getting their attention going and getting from one end of the football field to the other.

Dr. Michael Beckwith

It’s absolutely true. There are distractions, there are numerous. There’s a sliver of reality that’s presented to us called the media, whether it’s social media, whether it’s on your television, that’s a sliver, it’s not reality. It’s somebody’s viewpoint of reality, but it’s bombarded to us every single day. There’s our own thoughts about what we think other people are thinking about us. All of this. And then there’s, if there’s any kind of lack of self-love or self-worth, that creates inner obstacles that are projected out into the world. Many people think that they’re bumping into external obstacles when they’re actually bumping into their own interior awareness of a lack of self-love. It’s out-picturing itself as obstacles. So, as you say, everybody’s trying to maneuver through all of these obstacles. But a lot of it is self-imposed. It is a great mystic that came out of America, one of the greatest mystics ever to exist. His name is Walter Russell. And he said, mediocrity is self-inflicted. Genius is self-bestowed. When you have an inner reckoning, you begin to clean up your interiority, self-love, and appreciation. You’re loved and appreciated. And then you have a level of focus with your attention embracing your intention. You literally become a genius in what you’re meant to be. That means you come so far a genius is an individual that is focused, you know, whatever their particular gift is.

Dr. Allen Lycka

This is poetry you are saying such magic. We are almost at the end of our time together, can you tell our listeners how they can get in touch with you, and find out more about what you have to offer?
